Middlesbrough vs Ipswich Town Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Joseph King | in Championship Predictions
Matchday 20 in the English Championship sees 12th-place Middlesbrough looking to derail second-place Ipswich Town’s promotion run. After winning just two points from their first seven matches of the campaign, Michael Carrick’s Middlebrough continue their climb back up the standings. Boro are now 12th with 27 points and can close the gap on the playoff spots with a victory here. They trail sixth-place Hull City by just three points in what is a very congested middle of the pack in the Championship. Middlesbrough are coming off a 3-2 away defeat to Leeds in their most recent appearance. It was the second consecutive away loss for the team and the second straight where they conceded three goals. While they’ve struggled to keep teams from scoring on their travels, Boro have been a completely different defensive team at home. They’ve kept four clean sheets in their last five home outings and have allowed just seven goals compared to 22 on the road.
Ipswich have been rolling this season and show no signs of slowing down. It’s been a remarkable run for the Blues who won promotion from League One last season with a second-place finish. Ipswich are in prime position to become only the fourth team in the last 27 years to secure a double promotion from League One to the Premier League if they can maintain this level of play. The visitors are coming off back-to-back home wins over Millwall and Coventry, the latter of which finished 2-1. The victories continue Ipswich’s red-hot home form as they have now won nine of their 10 appearances at Portman Road. Kieran McKenna’s side have also been a force on the road where they have five wins, three draws and only one defeat.
