Middlesbrough vs Hull Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Joseph King | in Championship Predictions
Two teams on losing skids face off as 12th-place Middlesbrough hosts eighth-place Hull City for matchday 21 of the English Championship. Middlesbrough will look to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Leeds and Ipswich. The former was a high-scoring 3-2 shootout while the latter finished in a 2-0 home defeat to the league’s surprise second-place team. The loss to Ipswich was also the first time that Middlesbrough had failed to find the net in the last seven fixtures across all competitions. Michael Carrick has now seen his Boro side drop to 12th with an 8-3-9 record. Despite their league standing, Middlesbrough remain just three points off sixth-place Sunderland for a spot in the promotion playoffs. They now get another crack at a home win at the Riverside after seeing their two game home winning streak snapped on the weekend.
Similarly to their opponents today, the Tigers enter this fixture looking to put an end to a two game losing streak of their own. Hull City squandered a 1-0 lead against Watford to fall to a 2-1 home defeat at the beginning of the month. They would follow that up with a 2-0 away defeat to relegation-threatened QPR on the weekend, marking just the first time this season that Liam Rosenior’s side has lost two consecutive league fixtures. Hull City are still in a strong position overall as they sit eighth and are even on points with sixth-place Sunderland. However, the visitors have seen their away form take a nosedive after a strong start to the campaign saw them win three of their first four away fixtures. The Tigers have now managed just a single win in their last six away trips.
