Middlesbrough will be looking to remain in touching distance of the Championship playoff spots when they take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in ninth place in the league standings, while the visitors are 18th. Middlesbrough endured a turbulent January and February in the Championship, managing just two wins in eight games during that time. However, this month they have won three (in a row) of their last four games, including a 1-0 victory against Birmingham City at the weekend. That result took them to 53 points after 37 games, five points behind sixth-placed Norwich City. At home, Boro have taken 24 points from a possible 54 this season, though they have only won one of their last six games at the Riverside Stadium. Despite losing the reverse fixture back in September, the hosts are the favourites in this match. 

Meanwhile, after missing out on a playoff spot by the narrowest of margins last season, Blackburn are closer to the drop zone than they are to the top half of the table this term. They are currently on 41 points after 37 games, just three points above Huddersfield, who are the first side below the dotted line. Last week, Rovers saw their top-six hopes evaporate further, drawing 1-1 against Plymouth Argyle. That result marked their seventh consecutive match without victory, while they have only won once since mid-December. On the road, the visitors are winless in their last nine games, including eight losses and a draw, and conceded two or more goals in all but two of those matches. The last time Rovers won an away game was in November.
