Mexico vs Qatar Prediction & Betting Tips - Gold Cup 2011
by Kennedy Kechula in CONCACAF Gold Cup Predictions
Qatar will play Mexico on Monday seeking to qualify for the knockout rounds of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. After two rounds of play, Mexico sit top in Group B while Qatar are third. Mexico have won both their matches and have done so convincingly. They have scored seven goals while conceding just once. After thumping Honduras 4-0, Jaime Lozano’s men defeated Haiti 3-1 to qualify with a game to spare. They will now seek to top the group by maintaining their 100% record. Before arriving for the Gold Cup, El Tri finished third in the CONCACAF Nations League. Mexico are the record Gold Cup champions with eight titles. In the last two editions, they have made the final, winning in 2019.
Qatar are making their second guest appearance in the CONCACAF regional showpiece. The Middle Eastern nation ended a 16-year hiatus from guest nations when they participated in the 2021 tournament. They will seek to do better than their fourth-place finish last time. Carlos Queiroz’s charges will have to win here though if they are to stand a chance of qualifying from the group. Qatar were defeated 2-1 on matchday one by Haiti before earning a point in a 1-1 draw with Honduras. As they seek a win, they will also hope that Haiti do not win against Honduras. The Maroons have found it hard to win matches and have managed only two wins in their last 11 games.
