Mexico vs Iceland Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by | in Football Predictions
t's all going pretty well for Mexico as they bid to reach the World Cup finals in Russia. They are currently second in their group with four points from two games and the top three make it to the finals. Their next qualifiers aren't until the end of next month when they host leaders Costa Rica and travel to Trinidad & Tobago. This warm-up game sees them host Iceland who were the surprise team of Euro 2016, well they certainly surprised England, that is for sure. The two sides have met a couple of times in the past (2003 and 2010), both ending 0-0. Mexico have only lost one of their last 29 internationals stretching back to the 2015 Copa America tournament. Their last defeat was in the 2016 Copa America when they were destroyed 7-0 by Chile. Apart from that it's been a fantastic few years for the Mexicans and on home territory they haven't lost since a 1-0 defeat by Portugal three years ago. Iceland reached the quarter finals of Euro 2016 and their next task is to consolidate that by making sure they qualify for the 2018 World Cup. That's still a possibility with them in third place in Group I at present, a point behind Ukraine. Next month they travel to Kosovo while Ukraine go to leaders Croatia so they could easily be in the top two by the end of March. Iceland beat China and lost to Chile in the China Cup last month. A trip to Mexico is never easy, so go for a home win here.
