Nice will travel away to Metz on Saturday seeking to maintain their unbeaten start in the French Ligue 1. The two teams have had contrasting starts to the season with Nice in fourth faring better than Metz in 14th. Metz find themselves just two points above the relegation zone after seven rounds of play. Laszlo Boloni’s men have won just two of their matches with another three ending in defeat. They have lost their last two matches and have done so without scoring. Metz were thumped 3-0 away to Toulouse last weekend. It was the second match this season that they had conceded at least three goals. Les Grenats were defeated 1-0 by Strasbourg the last time they were at home to prolong their search for a home victory. Metz haven’t won at home since their return to the top division this season.

Nice are one of two teams still unbeaten in the league. Despite proving difficult to beat, Francesco Farioli’s men have struggled with inconsistency. They have won three matches with the other four ending in a share of the spoils. The inconsistencies of the other teams above them have kept Nice in the title picture. They have amassed 13 points and trail leaders Monaco by a point. The Eagles played out a 0-0 draw with second-placed Brest at home last time out. It was the fourth time this season that they had kept a clean sheet. Defence has played a key role in Nice’s form as they have conceded just four goals which is the best tally thus far.
