Melbourne City will be hoping to prolong the A-League title race for at least one more day when they play host to Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Saturday. The Hearts are second in the league standings, while the Reds are in seventh place. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Melbourne City’s slender hopes of winning the league title this season were kept alive last week when a late Western Sydney Wanderers goal was chalked off, which saw their matchup end 2-2. 

While that was City’s fourth league match without defeat, it also saw the gap to the league leaders extend to six with two games left to play. The title could be decided if they lose this match. 

However, the hosts will be confident in getting a result here given their home form. They have only lost one of their last nine games at AAMI Park and kept clean sheets in six of those matches. 

Meanwhile, this is also a crucial match for Adelaide United, as they are the first team outside of the top six places on goal difference with one game remaining. 

The Reds have been in dismal form leading up to the end of the season, managing only a single win in their last 10 games, a significant downturn after winning nine of their preceding 15. 

On the road, the visitors are winless in six matches, including four defeats and two draws, and have conceded two or more goals in all but one match during that period.
