12th placed Marseille hope to end a poor run of form in Ligue 1. They host Rennes who are a point and two places above them but from a game more. The Olympians begin the weekend five points behind the final European qualification spot with a game in hand. Only three points separate them from the relegation zone afer a run of just two points from their last four league fixtures. Last weekend saw the Youngs from Marseille come from behind to get a 1-1 draw at Strasbourg. That was a welcome goal in more ways than one. Not only did it rescue a point but it ended a run of three league fixtures without a goal. Their scoring boots were on in midweek as they beat Ajax 4-3 at home in the Europa League to confirm their place in the knockout stages. Home league form has seen them go unbeaten this season with three wins and two draws but two of the last three have ended goalless.

Rennes are only four points adrift of the final European qualification spot. The Rennais have won three of their 13 league games with six drawn and four being lost. Recent form had been poor until last weekend when beating Reims 3-1 at home. Before that, the Red and Blacks had only earned one point from five league games. Midweek also saw them doing well in Europe with a 3-0 win at Maccabi Haifa and also confirming their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League. Away form in Ligue 1 has been a struggle with only three points from five games and all draws. Three of their last four away league fixtures have seen them fail to score.
