It took a goal in the 116th minute to get Marseille through to the final of the Europa League giving them a 3-2 aggregate win over Red Bull. If they beat Atletico Madrid in the final that gets them into the Champions League but that's by no means certain against the Spanish side. Therefore, it's important for Marseille to qualify for the Champions League via Ligue 1. They start the weekend in fourth place in the table, assured of playing in the Europa League next season but only a point behind Monaco in third and second-placed Lyon. If they can get ahead of one of those sides then into the Champions League they go. Marseille are unbeaten in their last five league games and have only lost one of their last 14 at home, though that loss to Lyon may prove costly.

Nice are in seventh place in the table and have their own European dreams. They are only a point behind fifth placed St Etienne and a place in the Europa League next season. They could be in the top five but for a run of three draws in their last four league games. Their only loss in the last eight league games has been to champions PSG and on their travels Nice have five without defeat though three have ended all square. They have only won five away league matches this season and lost 4-2 at home to Marseille earlier in the season. As long as Thursday's trip to Austria hasn't taken too much out of them, Marseille can win this to keep up their hopes of a top three finish.
