Marseille host Montpellier on Matchday thirty one of the Ligue 1 at the Stade Velodrome. Marseille come into the game with an impressive first-leg win over PAOK in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals with a 2-1 scoreline. Their last game in the Ligue 1 was also an impressive 4-2 win over Saint-Etienne. Marseille are on a six-match winning run and are on a three game-winning run at home as well. Things do not change for Marseille as far as the title race is concerned as Paris-Saint Germain are walking away with the league at the moment and there is a twelve point gap between the two teams but three points for the hosts will only solidify their claim for a Champions League qualification by the end of the current season as top three get to Europe's top continental competition, with Marseille being three points clear of the third place at the moment. 

Montpellier lost 2-1 at home to Stade Brestois in their last league game. They have been highly inconsistent with their results and thus find themselves at a mid-table position. Montpellier have struggled to get results on the road. They have lost four out of their last six away matches and also have won just once in their last five matches as well. It also must be noted that Montpellier have never beaten Marseille in the past. An unlikely point for Montpellier also does not help the cause of the visitors as there will be no movement in the league standings for them just yet even if they do manage to get away with something from this game.
