Two traditional powers of French football collide this weekend when Marseille host AS Monaco in Ligue 1 action on Saturday. The clubs are neck and neck in the table with Marseille fourth on 24 points and Monaco fifth on 23 points. Marseille, however, four points behind leaders PSG, have two games in hand on their upcoming opponents. The hosts are unbeaten in four of their last five matches against Monaco but lost the most recent meeting, a 2-1 defeat in the Coupe de la Ligue. Marseille are unbeaten in their last eight Ligue 1 games, winning the most recent five. Last weekend, they travelled to Nimes and came away with a 2-0 win. It was their third clean sheet in four league matches. Monaco, meanwhile, went to Lille to have their own winning streak smashed. They had won their previous four league matches before going down 2-1 there.

Marseille will have to be wary of Monaco's dangerous frontline. Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland have combined to brilliant effect in the league this season, getting six and five goals respectively. While they have terrific forward talent, Monaco may lack a creator of the quality of Florian Thauvin, the Marseille playmaker with five assists to his name in this league campaign. Monaco have been poor away from home in recent months, losing four of their last five away games in the league. Marseille are unbeaten in their last four home league games, winning the last two by the scoreline of 3-1. We foresee another home win this weekend.
