Marseille vs Monaco Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Marseille will host Monaco in their next Ligue 1 game as both sides look to firm up their ambitions for Europe. Hosts Marseille are a point outside the Conference League places while Monaco are fourth, a point below the Champions league slots. Recent weeks haven't been really inspiring from Marseille’s point of view. Right before this game, they were eliminated from the French Cup after a 1-1 draw with Rennes, losing on penalties. Jordan Veretout scored the opener for Marseille in that game but Martin Terrier leveled before sending the game to penalties. Earlier, Marseille had also drawn with Strasbourg in Ligue 1. While they haven't won in their last two Ligue 1 matches, Marseille are unbeaten in seven league games, winning four. Their biggest concern going into this game will be the difficulty to keep clean sheets. They’ve managed just three in the last 10 league games. Five times in Marseille’s last seven matches, both teams scored.

Monaco came from behind to beat Marseille 3-2 in their first meeting this season, back in September. That win marked a two-game unbeaten stretch against Marseille and they’ll be looking to extend it here. The visitors had an easy outing ahead of this game, beating Ligue 2 side Rodez 3-1 in the French Cup. This will be a much tougher opposition but Monaco will be up to the task. Wissam Ben Yedder will particularly be motivated for this game, after scoring three against Rodez, the first a penalty goal. However, like Marseille, they will worry more about their numbers in defence. Monaco have no clean sheet in six matches, though they have only failed to score twice in the last 10 games. Both teams have scored in eight of Monaco’s last 10 away matches across all competitions.
