Marseille will be out to get back to winning ways on Sunday when they host Ligue 1 strugglers Clermont. The hosts are currently sixth in the standings coming into this weekend while Clermont are down in 17th. Marseille saw a four-match winning run come to an end in midweek in the Europa League. Gennaro Gattuso’s men were defeated by a solitary goal away to Brighton on Thursday. The loss also ended their unbeaten status in the competition but did not hamper their progress to the knockout rounds. Les Olympiens have won six times in the French topflight with five of those victories coming at the Velodrome. They have amassed 23 points and sit four points from the Champions League places.

Clermont will head out here seeking to claw their way out of the relegation zone. Luka Elsner’s charges have lost the second most matches in the division and their poor return has them second from bottom. Clermont, who have accumulated 11 points, have lost eight times in 15 outings and are two points from safety. Les Lanciers have managed only two wins and the most recent one came a month ago. Since then they have earned two points from their last four outings. In their last match, they held title-chasing Lille to a 0-0 draw at home. Since their debut season in the top flight three seasons ago, Clermont have defeated Marseille only once in four meetings. That win however did come with them as the away side.
