United lost at home to Southampton that day but it'll be a major suprise if history repeats itself. That United record almost went on Boxing Day when they had to come from 2-0 down to get a point against Burnley. Two more points dropped and their chances of winning the Premier League diminish even further as a result. It took two late goals from Jesse Lingard to save the game on Monday and Jose Mourinho knows his side can't afford to drop more points when facing Southampton. The fact is though that in their last two league games, United have dropped four points which is twice the number City have conceded all season. Southampton are 14th in the table but only two points above the relegation zone. Top defender Virgil van Dijk is on his way to Liverpool and the club has to spend big in January with a striker the main target. They have only scored 20 league goals this season and come into this game on a run of seven league games without a win. Away from home, the Saints have gone seven without a win with only two points earned in those matches. This should be a comfortable home win for United.
