Manchester United vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips - Carabao Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in Carabao Cup Predictions
Both Manchester United and Newcastle United will seek to get back to winning ways when the former hosts Wednesday’s League Cup tie. In a repeat of last season’s final, these two teams will this time around clash in the round of 16. Manchester United are coming off a disappointing 3-0 humbling at home by cross-town rivals Manchester City in the league. The defeat ended a three-match winning run for Eric ten Hag’s men and they will want an immediate response. United have won the last seven matches they have played in the League Cup including last season’s final. Five of those victories have been achieved at home. The Red Devils defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 to begin their cup defence.
Newcastle are also seeking to get back to winning ways as they haven’t won any of their last two matches. Eddie Howe’s charges lost the lead twice and had to settle for a 2-2 draw away to Wolves last time out. Despite being disappointed in not winning, the Magpies will be satisfied with the response to their loss to Dortmund in the Champions League. Newcastle have struggled with inconsistency, especially when playing away from home. Wednesday’s visitors have won only once in their last six away games. Considering this and the fact they haven’t won away to United since 2013, this could yet be another difficult trip to Manchester. Newcastle defeated Manchester City 1-0 at home to start off their League Cup campaign. Both United and Newcastle are expected to make wholesome changes to their squads for this match.
