Manchester United nearly beat Chelsea at the weekend but only left Stamford Bridge with a point to leave them nine points off the top of the Premier League and seven away from the Champions League places. That means they might have to make the most of these big European nights and they don't come much bigger than this one. They host Juventus and of course this means the return to Old Trafford of Cristiano Ronaldo. United start this game second in the group on four points, two behind Juventus. A defeat here wlll see United having to battle Valencia for the second spot in the table but a win will take them to the top of the group. They only have one win in their last six league and cup games and that was against Premier League bottom side Newcastle United. United have also only won one of their last five home games in all competitions and have failed to win either of their last two home Champions League games.

Italian champions Juventus lead the group by two points after winning both of their opening games in this group. They started off with a win in Valencia, despite having Ronaldo sent off, and then beat Young Boys at home. This is the first of two straight games against United in this group and avoiding defeat in both will put them in a strong position in the group. They are top of Serie A, though they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bologna on Saturday. Since April, their only defeat has been in an International Champions Cup game against Real Madrid, with both teams fielding weakened sides. Their last 25 Champions League games have seen only Real Madrid and Barcelona be able to beat them and their last 12 away matches in this competition have seen just one loss to Barcelona and they beat Real Madrid away last season. This should be a great game but United often struggle against the very best teams and the tip here is for an away win.
