The Premier League table has a more recognisable look to it now. After the latest set of games, Manchester United are now fifth and City in sixth. Both have a game in hand on the sides above them. Manchester United won 3-1 at West Ham last weekend, their fourth consecutive win in the Premier League, taking them to within five points of leaders Tottenham with that game in hand. Home form has been a big problem for them this season. Their fans won’t forget seeing their beloved United concede nine goals to Crystal Palace and Tottenham. Their first four home league games of this season saw them earn just a single point. The first win finally came when beating struggling West Brom 1-0. Only three teams in the Premier League have earned less home points this season. It’s a record that has to be significantly improved if they are to launch a title challenge. They have a good recent record against their local rivals, winning three of their last four league and cup games against them. Tuesday wasn't a great night for them though as they lost in Leipzig and were knocked out of the Champions League. They will want to bounce back from that result and a win over their greatest rivals (just above Liverpool) would partly make up for that.

Manchester City are up to fifth now and only six points off the top and from a game less. Last weekend saw them defeat Fulham 2-0 at home. That’s just one loss in the last eight league games. Their away form in the Premier League this season has seen them win two, draw two and lose one. The defeat came at league leaders Tottenham last month. City scored three goals in their opening away match at Wolves, but since then have only scored the same number in four matches, all of them having under 2.5 goals scored in them. Up against a Manchester United defence that struggles to keep clean sheets, they may well do better this weekend. Predicting the result of this match isn't easy with United so inconsistent. A bet on both teams to score is the safest way to make a profit.
