A 3-2 win at Sheffield United on Thursday took Manchester United up to sixth in the Premier League. They try to sort out their home form with the visit of Leeds United who are 13th but only six points behind their opponents, The latest away win for the Reds took them to within five points of leaders Liverpool but with a game in hand. Of their 23 points, 18 have been earned away from home. If they could sort their home form out, then a title challenge really is on. While they have won their last ten away Premier League games, they have just one home victory in the last eight. All a bit of a puzzle really as before this bad run started in July, they’d won four in a row at Old Trafford scoring 13 goals. This season, their only home win has been over bottom three side West Brom. The last seven home league games has seen them score four goals, that’s one less than they put past Leipzig at Old Trafford in the Champions League. At least they have cut down the number of home league goals being conceded. Nine were put past them by Crystal Palace and Tottenham, since then, they have kept three clean sheets in four with only Arsenal scoring against them and that was a penalty. The last four home league fixtures have only seen two goals scored (one a penalty).

Leeds United beat Newcastle United 5-2 at home on Wednesday evening. That was a much needed win after losing their previous two Premier League games. That makes it 13 goals in their last four fixtures and one of those was only 1-0. United have had mixed away results in the Premier League this season. Three games have been won but three lost. Each of those losses has seen them concede at least three goals. Two of their last three on the road have been lost with Chelsea and Everton putting seven goals past them. Inbetween those two losses, they won 1-0 at Everton. They really are a puzzle as the three away league victories have all been with clean sheets. A bet on over 2.5 goals in this game looks a good one though with Leeds unlikely to go to Old Trafford looking for a low-scoring draw.
