Manchester United vs FC Copenhagen Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Devesh Jaganath | in Champions League Predictions
Gameweek three in the UEFA Champions League will see Manchester United take on FC Copenhagen on Tuesday evening. The hosts come into the match at the bottom of Group A and are yet to register their first point in this competition. The visitors are just above them in third place with one point. Both sides are in desperate need of a positive result, with Bayern Munich already leading the group with six points while Galatasaray are in second and two points behind the leaders. A third straight loss for the Red Devils in this Champions League group is unthinkable and would leave them struggling to even finish third in the group and be moved into the Europa League. They will be hoping for some good results against Copenhagen and poor ones for Galatasaray against Bayern Munich. Copenhagen are in the same situation as their opponents but at least they have a point.

Manchester United - FC Copenhagen: Form Analysis
Manchester United have made a shaky start to the 2023-24 season. Not only are they bottom of their group in this competition, but they are also down in eighth place in the Premier League. It'll be a night full of emotion at Old Trafford. This is their first home game since the death of club legend Sir Bobby Charlton who won the European Cup with the Reds in 1968. United won 2-1 at Sheffield United at the weekend, that was their second straight win in the Premier League. They now need to transfer that improved form to the Champions League. The Red Devils put up a good fight in gameweek one but were on the wrong side of a 4-3 scoreline against Bayern Munich. They then took on Gala at home and were beaten 3-2 after Casemiro was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Since then, there has been a slight improvement in their performances, with wins over Brentford and Sheffield United either side of the international break. United's major issue this season has been in defense, having already conceded six in this tournament and 13 in their domestic league.
Meanwhile, Copenhagen entered the Champions League as one of the less-fancied sides to make it out of the group stages. However, while they are in third place, the visitors fared quite well in their first two fixtures. They held Galatasaray to a 2-2 draw despite going down to ten men but did lead that game 2-0 going into the 86th minute so a bit disappointing only earning a point. Then they were narrowly beaten by Bayern 2-1 at home after taking the lead in the match. Domestically, The Lions have been very good. They currently lead the Superliga with 26 points and come into this one off the back of a 2-1 win over Vejle last weekend. That ended a run of three games without a win. Notably, Copenhagen have not lost an away match in any competition this season. In 11 matches on the road, they recorded seven wins and four draws. They also scored at least once in each of those matches.

Manchester United & FC Copenhagen Squad Analysis
Erik ten Hag has a number of absentees at the moment. Casemiro's red card in the last match means that he will not be eligible to take part in this one. Among the injured absentees in defense are Luke Shaw (muscle), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (hamstring), Lisandro Martinez (foot), and Tyrell Malacia (knee). Further forward, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are also on the treatment table. Jadon Sancho has been banned from the first team, and it seems increasingly likely that his time at Old Trafford is all but over.
Jacob Neestrup has also been dealt a blow in defense, with Birger Meling ruled out until November through injury. He will be joined on the sideline by Nicolai Boilesen and William Clem, who is only expected to return next year due to a broken leg. Noah Sahsah is suffering from a knee injury and should be out of action for at least another month. Elias Jelert is expected to fill in at left-back in the absence of Meling, having completed his suspension.
