Manchester United will host Chelsea in the sixth week of matches in the Premier League as both sides shift attention from the UEFA Champions League. Going to this match, two points separate the sides, with hosts United in 15th place with six points while Chelsea are eighth with eight points. Manchester United are coming from a morale boosting win over PSG in Paris. They have failed to win a league game at home so far, and the feeling in camp will be that this is the right time and game to show what they can do. In their last league match, United came from behind to beat Newcastle United 4-1 in a massive improvement from the loss to Spurs. Having trailed in three of their opening four league games, this is one area they will want to address against Chelsea. They have no clean sheet in the league so far and this should be a concern, as they head off to face Chelsea, the third best scoring side. All of Manchester United matches have produced over 2.5 goals so far this season, just as six of their last eight at home across all competitions. In their last five league matches at home, both sides have scored, with United failing to score more than one goal in the last three. The team has also trailed at some point in four of the last five home matches in the league.

While United registered a win away in Paris, Chelsea failed to break Europa League winners, Sevilla, drawing 0-0 at home on Tuesday. It marked the second straight draw for Chelsea and the fourth time in five matches that they failed to win. It has so far not been a great season for Chelsea, despite having a very expensively assembled team. New players are still trying to adapt to the needs of the Premier League and the team is paying a heavy price, especially defensively. The Blues have already conceded nine goals in the league, though they have done well in attack, scoring 13. Their last league game saw the London side drop two points after blowing a 2-0 lead, then 3-2 to settle for a 3-3 draw with Southampton. Chelsea have one clean sheet in the league so far and three of their last five matches have seen both sides score. Four of their five league matches have ended in over 2.5 goals and Chelsea have trailed at half time in just one of their five league matches. Chelsea’s abilities in attack are not in doubt, and they have also done well when playing away from home. In their last five away league matches, they have scored thrice in four, and have scored two or more in eight of their last nine away games in the league. Chelsea have failed to score in just one away league match in the last nine.
