Manchester United start the weekend in tenth place in the Premier League, already seven points adrift of the Champions League places. They can't let that gap widen much further and need to improve on a record of just one win in their last seven league and cup games and that was against the team bottom of the Premier League. More defeats will pile the pressure on Jose Mourinho and with away games against Juventus and Manchester City on the horizon, United need to win this game or they could end up in the bottom half of the table. Home form for United has seen two home league wins, a draw and defeat by Tottenham, They've still only lost three of their last 40 home league games and can't afford a defeat here.

The visitors are two places above United but only a point clear of them. Everton haven't managed to win any of their last four away games against United since a 2013 victory at Old Trafford and have no wins over the Old Trafford side in their last seven meetings. They have won their last three league games beating Fulham at home, winning at Leicester and getting two late goals to get a home win over Crystal Palace last weekend. Not since 2016 have they managed to win four league games in a row. Away form hasn't been great for Everton with five points from their four league games this season and at one stage last term lost five in a row on their travels. Manchester United can get a welcome home win in tnis game.
