Premier League Manchester United are in a good position to reach the last four of the EFL Cup. They host Colchester United who play in English League Two. Although they will field a weakened side, the home side should still have far too much for their opponents.

United have so far beaten Rochdale (though they needed a penalty shoot-out) and then won away at Chelsea. Including extra time and penalties, they have won six of their last seven home games in this competition. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team is in good form at present having reached the Europa League knock-out stages (even with a weakened line-up) and are up to sixth in the Premier League. A good cup run, especially if ending with a trophy being lifted would certainly be good news for United.  Home form is strong and it will take a major shock for their opponents to win this match.

Colchester United are no strangers to causing cup upsets. They famously knocked Leeds United out of the FA Cup in the 70s, when the Yorkshire club were the top dogs. Last season saw them beat Crystal Palace away from home in the League Cup. This season they have beaten Tottenham at home and will be looking for another big scalp at Old Trafford. They are ninth in League One and have one loss in their last five games. This looks booked for a Manchester United home victory with them leading at both half and full time.
