Manchester United vs Chelsea Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in FA Cup Predictions
Manchester United and Chelsea will be putting aside their Premier League engagements to focus on the FA Cup this Sunday. They meet in the cup semi final at Wembley, with this competition presenting both sides with a realistic chance of winning silverware. Manchester United had a labored win over Norwich City in the quarter finals, needing a late extra time goal to secure passage but generally they have had a good run in recent times, going unbeaten in their last 19 league and cup matches. They have won six of the eight matches they have been involved in since football resumed, and the other two ended in draws. In 2018, these two sides met in the FA Cup final and Chelsea won 1-0 but heading to the Sunday game, United will be favorites as they meet for the fourth time this season. Manchester United have won each of the three meetings this season – twice in the league (including a 4-0 home win on the opening weekend of the seaon), and in the League Cup. United will go to this game straight from a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the league but will be disadvantaged, as their opponents will have rested an extra 48 hours by the time they meet.
Chelsea registered a 1-0 win over Norwich City on Tuesday to stay in the top four of the Premier League. After losing in three meetings this season, Frank Lampard has won this cup as a player and would love to end his first season as Chelsea boss by winning the FA Cup. Just like United, the Blues have won six of their eight matches since football resumed, but the difference is Chelsea have two losses being beaten by West Ham and Sheffield United. They won 1-0 away at Leicester in their FA Cup quarter final game and had eliminated Liverpool in the fifth round Chelsea will hope to dump out one more giant. Chelsea will need to end a run of six games in a row without a win against United. In he eight matches since the game returned, Chelsea have registered three clean sheets, one less than United’s tally in the same period. However, both West Ham and Sheffeld United put three past them. Chelsea have failed to score in only one of their last eight matches while United have scored in all of their games after lockdown.

Our Manchester United vs Chelsea Prediction
Chelsea last beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final in 2018, courtesy of Eden Hazard’s goal and heading to this game, they will be looking to avoid defeat for the first time in four meetings this season. On the other hand, Manchester United head to this game as favorites, on a 19-match unbeaten run. Chelsea have scored in seven of their eight matches after lockdown and United have scored in all, pointing to an attacking game at Wembley on Sunday. Meanwhile, Chelsea have three clean sheets and United four in the same period, and going by the two sides’ forms, we will pick on a win for Manchester United.
