Manchester City vs West Ham Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King | in Premier League Predictions
League leaders Manchester City continue to charge towards their third consecutive Premier League title when they host 15th-place West Ham for this rescheduled matchday 28 fixture. Currently holding a one point lead over second-place Arsenal, Man City can stretch their advantage to four points with five matches remaining should they take all three points here. On the other side, David Moyes’ West Ham team hold a decent five point lead over the relegation zone but certainly cannot rest on their laurels. It will be a busy week for the Hammers who have back-to-back matches against the Manchester clubs before a Conference League semi-final against Dutch club AZ.

The oddsmakers unsurprisingly have the defending champions as heavy 1.20 favorites to get the win considering their home form this season. West Ham come in at a massive price of 13.00 to pull off the upset while the draw sits at odds of 7.00. Manchester City are also 1.06 favorites to win the league as a fifth league title in the past six years seems inevitable.

Manchester City - West Ham: Form Analysis
Manchester City earned a 2-1 away victory over Fulham on the weekend thanks to two first half goals from leading goalscorer Erling Haaland and World Cup winner Julian Alvarez. The result makes it 13 wins from the last 14 matches for Pep Guardiola’s side, whose only blemish during that run was a 1-1 away draw to Bayern in the Champions League. We may well be witnessing the best version of Manchester City under the legendary Catalan manager during his seven years at the club with his team on pace for a historic treble. The Citizens are running like a well-oiled machine at this point and have notched 37 goals in their last 10 matches across all competitions.
West Ham’s exploits in the Conference League have done much to mitigate the disappointment from their league performance so far. However, they will ultimately have to go on to win the competition for fans to not feel like the season was a complete disaster after witnessing their team finish seventh last year. West Ham have suffered two consecutive defeats following their 4-3 away defeat to Crystal Palace on the weekend. With six goals conceded in the last two matches, that number is likely to increase significantly given the Hammers next two fixtures. Things haven’t gone well for West Ham as the away team this season as they've lost 10 of their 16 outings while only managing three wins during that time.

Manchester City & West Ham Squad Analysis
The big news around the Manchester City squad is the status of Kevin De Bruyne. The iconic Belgian midfielder missed out on the team’s win against Fulham and is almost certain to miss out here as well. De Bruyne will desperately be targeting a return to the action before his team takes on Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League on May 9th. KDB is arguably the team’s most influential player as the 31-year-old orchestrates Manchester City’s play. De Bruyne has 23 goal contributions this season in 29 league appearances. Defender Nathan Ake has also been ruled out for this one as he deals with a thigh injury.
For David Moyes, he will be without striker Gianluca Scamacca after the Italian big money signing had knee surgery in the middle of April. It’s been a difficult season for the former Sassuolo player who has scored just three league goals this season in 16 appearances. The Hammers are also going to be without defender Kurt Zouma who suffered an ankle sprain.

Our Manchester City vs West Ham Prediction
We’re going back to the well here after successfully converting on our ‘both teams to score’ bet that we posted for Manchester City’s match against Fulham on the weekend. Manchester City have been susceptible to conceing the odd goal in recent matches even as they have been racking up their massive goals total. With West Ham’s increased consistency on the attacking side of the ball, they should be able to sneak one by the City defense. Our Manchester City vs West Ham prediction: Both teams to score
