Manchester City vs Tottenham Prediction & Betting Tips - Carabao Cup
by Nella Wagah | in Carabao Cup Predictions
The first piece of silverware in England is up for grabs this Sunday, as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur face off at Wembley in the League Cup final. City are returning to Wembley a few days after their quadruple dreams were dimmed as Chelsea eliminated them from the FA Cup. They are still in contention on three fronts, this being one of them as they seek to win a second straight League Cup and join Liverpool as the most successful teams in the competition. The past few days have been eventful for City on and off the pitch, and in their last five matches, they’ve kept no clean sheet, and suffered two losses. They’ve trailed in their last four matches, but recovered to win two. In the last three rounds of this competition, they’ve met Premier League sides and will be confident of seeing off Spurs. However, they could be without key midfielder Kevin De Bruyne who is struggling with an ankle injury. Reports indicate he is recovering well, but with a Champions League double header against PSG on the way, he may be omitted from the Match Day squad altogether. Defender John Stones was sent off in the last game and will be unavailable here as well. In the last 18 matches away from home in all competitions, City have won 17, though their last two visits at Wembley have ended in defeat.
For Tottenham, this is the only cup they can win this season, and they head here with an interim manager following Jose Mourinho’s shock sacking earlier in the week. Interim manager Ryan Mason guided the team to a 2-1 comeback win over Southampton and he will be looking to have his name etched in history by winning this cup in just his second game in charge. Spurs needed a late penalty to see off Southampton for their first win in four matches, and the goal conceded in the clash means they have no clean sheet in the last four games. They have struggled a bit in away matches and going to this they have three wins and six losses in 11 across all competitions. Spurs have won the League Cup four times, with the last coming in 2007/08. They will hope to have their top scorer Harry Kane in this game after missing the Southampton clash with an ankle injury. In the last three meetings with City, Spurs have registered two wins.

Our Manchester City vs Tottenham Prediction
The two sides are coming from wins in midweek league games and both haven’t kept a lot of clean sheets lately. Manchester City have a great run away from home, and though they’ve lost in their last two visits at Wembley, they’ll have an edge over Spurs, who have lost six of their last 11 away matches. Spurs also seemed a bit off in their last game, which could be due to the changes in management and this may work against them here. Go for a Manchester City win.
