Manchester City vs Tottenham Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King | in Premier League Predictions
The marquee fixture of matchday 14 in the English Premier League sees second-place Manchester City hosting fifth-place Tottenham. The defending champions will look to regain the top spot in the table after surrendering it to Arsenal following back-to-back league draws. Tottenham, meanwhile, will be aiming to break into the top four with a victory and a slip up by either fourth-placed Aston Villa or third-place Liverpool. The last two meetings between these sides at this ground have produced some high-octane matches full of goals. Will these two forward thinking managers provide us with another on Sunday?

Manchester City - Tottenham: Form Analysis
Man City were able to get back to winning ways in their midweek Champions League fixture following a 1-1 home draw with Liverpool last weekend. It certainly wasn’t easy for the Citizens who had to battle back after conceding twice in the first half hour of play. A Julian Alvarez strike in the 87th minute would complete the comeback with City’s three second-half goals securing a 3-2 win. The result saw Pep Guardiola’s side wrap up first-place in the group with a match still left to play. The win also snapped a run of two straight draws for Manchester City. It was only the second time this season that City have failed to win in two consecutive matches. A draw or a loss here would mark the first time since 2017 that Man City have gone three straight in the Premier League without a victory.
Tottenham are desperately searching for a positive result to stop their recent bleeding. The visitors are on their worst stretch of the campaign so far with three consecutive defeats. The most recent saw Spurs concede an early lead to ultimately lose 2-1 on home soil to Aston Villa. Tottenham were leading the Premier League before the losing streak but have since dropped down to fifth-place, putting them four points behind leaders Arsenal. For their part, Tottenham haven’t lost four consecutive league fixtures since 2004. They also have an exceptional recent record against the Sky Blues, winning five of their last seven meetings.

Manchester City & Tottenham Squad Analysis
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola only has a few injury problems to worry about in his squad brimming with world class talent. Matheus Nunes is almost certain to miss out here while Kevin De Bruyne remains a long-term absence as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Guardiola has stated that John Stones is “really close to coming back” but is unlikely to make the starting 11 on Sunday. The champions also got good news with Mateo Kovacic back in full training and available for selection.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is suffering from a number of injury problems. There are no fewer than 10 injured players that are unavailable for selection along with a suspension to defender Cristian Romero. Among the casualties are James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr. Heung-Min Son will lead the line for the visitors and will likely be supported by Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil.
