Manchester City vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Steve Ashfield | in Champions League Predictions
It's been a strange season for Manchester City but one that could yet have a very happy ending. Their owners dream of winning the Champions League but they have Real Madrid to get past and then a very tough draw. City have a 2-1 lead going into this second leg, so Real Madrid will have to score at least twice in this game to have any chance of qualification. Manchester CIty finished second in the table and forget Liverpool's great form, the fact is Pep Guardiola's team lost nine league games. That's three more than they lost in the previous two seasons when winning the Premier League title. They did retain the EFL Cup but lost in the semi-finals of the FA Cup losing their grip on the trophy. Their form in the final weeks of the season was strong though, particularly at the Etihad. Their last seven home league games were all won and by an aggregate score of 26-1. Since December 2018, only one side outside of Manchester (Wolves) have beaten them on home soil. Champions League form has seen them six out of their last seven (the other was drawn) with 27 goals scored. Both teams have scored in three of the last four though.
Real Madrid won La Liga and now want to get their Champions League title back. They have it all to do though after losing the home leg. That wasn't the result they expected when taking the lead with 12 minutes remaining. Then the English side scored in the 78th and 83rd minutes to win the game. That wasn't the biggest of shocks though as Real now have just one win in their last six home Champions League games, remember that stat for next season. Away form in Europe is better though with five wins and a loss to PSG in the last six. Only in two of the last 20 Champions League away games have they failed to get on the scoresheet. Who gets the first goal could be vital in this match but one thing does look more than likely and that is both teams scoring, so that's the tip.

Our Manchester City vs Real Madrid Prediction
Manchester City are still waiting to reach their first Champions League final, let alone lift the trophy. Just to reach the final they have Real Madrid and then possibly Juventus and either Bayern Munich or Barcelona to beat. They lead this tie against the Spanish champions 2-1 and have a strong home recored with plenty of goals scored. They have to be fancied to get on the scoresheet but it also looks likely that Real will score too. A bet on both teams to score is the best one to make here.
