Manchester City vs Manchester United Prediction & Betting Tips - Carabao Cup
by James | in Carabao Cup Predictions
This week sees another Manchester Derby played out at the Etihad as City host United in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash. City come into the game with a 3-1 lead after dismantling United at Old Trafford in the first leg. The scoreline doesn't do their dominance justice. Three goals ahead at half-time, United looked in real danger of being truly humiliated. Hardly famous for its atmosphere, Old Trafford went deadly silent as fans contemplated how ugly the game could turn. Taking 15 shots at goal, City passed up a number of chances and took their foot off the gas after the break. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have been thankful that City didn't run up a cricket score but surely won't think a comeback is plausible. United won at the Etihad as recently as December with Marcus Rashford a key figure in the victory. He is out of action as are a number of important United players.
United have been largely awful since that headline-making win at City. They have lost four games in the month of January alone. A thumping win over Tranmere in the FA Cup cannot paper over the cracks. United have a squad lacking quality and numbers. While City have looked vulnerable at times this season (such as the recent draw with Crystal Palace), they are generally reliable, as exemplified in their powerful showing in the first leg. With squad depth that shames their neighbours, we can only see City winning by a comfortable margin again. Back City to win this game by two clear goals.

Our Manchester City vs Manchester United Prediction
Hammering Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup gave Solskjaer a brief reprieve from the pressure he's been under. Expect that to end when he faces off with Pep Guardiola again. The City boss is wise to his counterpart's tactics and won't be fooled twice. We see the hosts picking off United in a clinical fashion, just as they did in the first leg. Back City to win by two clear goals.
