This match is the traditional curtain-raiser of the English season and will be played on Saturday with the prediction of a high-scoring game between the Citizens and the Red Devils.

Manchester City haven’t had a pre-season to gloat about, as their trip to the United States didn’t go per plan. They lost three and won just one of their friendlies. A 4-3 defeat to Celtic started their trip, which was then followed by a 3-2 loss at the hands of AC Milan.

It would be interesting to see if Manchester City start Erling Haaland, especially after coach Pep Guardiola suggested that his minutes must be managed. There are rumors around goalkeeper Ederson’s future at the club, but in any case, it's Stefan Ortega who is their designated ‘keeper in Cup competitions.
Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, and Rodri could miss out for City.
The trio, along with Kyle Walker, are yet to return to training after the Euro 2024 final and are likely to miss out on this trip to Wembley.
