Manchester City - Liverpool: Form Analysis
Man City are in terrifying form. They’ve scored an incredible 13 goals in their last two outings, both coming at the Etihad. This was due to their 7-0 demolition of RB Leipzig in the Champions League which was followed up with a 6-0 thrashing of Burnley in the FA Cup. The Citizens have now won their last six matches on the trot, with five straight clean sheets and outscoring their opponents by a total of 23-1 during that stretch. Man City this season have been noticeably better at home where they have put up an 11 win, one draw, one loss record while racking up a +43 goal differential.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have lost their last two consecutive matches by a scoreline of 1-0, both coming away from home with the most recent at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League. The result knocked Liverpool out of the competition who were always facing an uphill battle after a heavy 5-2 home defeat in the first leg of the tie. The Reds are just not the same this season, especially when playing away from Anfield. Liverpool in the Premier League have posted a cringeworthy 3-3-7 away record this season, scoring only 13 goals and conceding 20. Compare this to their home form which has seen them put up a 9-3-1 record with 34 goals scored and only 9 conceded.

Manchester City & Liverpool Squad Analysis
The major injury news around the Man City camp has involved Erling Haaland and Phil Foden. Foden is set to miss out on this one with the 22-year-old having undergone an operation for appendicitis. Haaland’s status, on the other hand, is much more up in the air after picking up a groin injury in the FA Cup win over Burnley. The Premier League leading scorer was initially called up to the Norway squad for their two Euro 2024 qualifying matches but later had to withdraw. Haaland was receiving treatment in Spain and reports are that it is going to be “touch and go” until kickoff in for match between City and Liverpool. There is a possibility that the Norwegian hitman was pulled out of the squad as a precautionary measure to ensure he can take part in this one.
On the other side, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a few injury concerns of his own. Darwin Nuñez picked up a minor ankle problem but is expected to be fit for this one. Thiago remains unavailable as he continues to deal with a hip injury. Luis Diaz is back in training after missing a significant amount of time and could feature off the bench here.

Our Manchester City vs Liverpool Prediction
This match comes at a horrible time for Liverpool and an excellent time for Man City. The visitors have seen the goals dry up in recent matches and will now have to deal with a Manchester City side arguably in their best form of the entire season. The Reds will be hoping that Erling Haaland isn’t fit enough to start but City can still call upon the likes of Julian Alvarez should that be the case. We expect the hosts to simply have too much firepower for a stuttering Liverpool offense to keep up with in this one as City should get the three points.
