Manchester City vs Leicester Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King in Premier League Predictions
Second-place Manchester City host 19th-placed Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium for this matchday 31 Premier League fixture. Man City were given a lifeline by Liverpool last weekend when an 87th minute Firmino strike leveled the score at 2-2 and prevented Arsenal from walking away from Anfield with the three points. As things stand currently, Pep Guardiola’s men trail the young Gunners team by six points with a game in hand advantage, meaning the lead could be cut down to just three points. Leicester City, meanwhile, are in complete disarray after a torrid run of form has the Foxes sitting two points from safety. They’ll need to put points on the board fast or the surprise 2015/16 league champions could be playing the 2023/24 season in the Championship.

Manchester City - Leicester: Form Analysis
Guaridola’s Man City side are showing arguably their strongest form of the season at the moment. They’ve now won nine in a row across all competitions and are on a 13 match unbeaten run to boot. City have been scoring goals at a frankly silly rate during this winning streak with a 3-0 home win over German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final the latest in a series of dominant results. Manchester City have now scored a preposterous 34 goals over the last nine matches while conceding a total of just three goals, giving them a goal differential of +31 in the last seven weeks alone. The hosts' form at the Etihad has been sublime, losing only once across all competitions and racking up 47 goals scored in 14 Premier League outings.
Leicester City are reeling following the sacking of former manager Brendan Rodgers two weeks ago after losing to Crystal Palace. Leicester were unable to receive the “new-manager bounce” as the Foxes slumped to two defeats in caretaker manager Adam Sadler’s two matches in charge. The results mean that the visitors have now taken only a single point from their last eight Premier League matches, finding the net a total of only four times during that stretch. Leicester have lost 10 of their 15 away trips in the league this season and suffered a 6-3 loss to City their last time playing at this ground.

Manchester City & Leicester Squad Analysis
Pep Guardiola has nearly a completely healthy squad to choose from ahead of the match against Leicester. The defending champions only absentee is wonderkid Phil Foden who is recovering after having surgery for an acute appendicitis. City started with John Stones in midfield pairing with Rodri in the Champions League match against Bayern. Both players looked solid and Guardiola might opt for the same here. However, with a trip to the Catalan coach’s old Bavarian stomping grounds coming up in just four days, the two-time Champions League winning manager may opt for some rotation to keep his squad fresh.
On the other side, caretaker manager Adam Sadler has a few injury problems to deal with as his team faces what is likely the most difficult match on the season’s fixture list. Sadler will be without the services of James Justin and Ryan Bertrand, while there are also doubts surrounding the fitness of key midfielder Youri Tielemans. Harvey Barnes has been dealing with a hamstring injury but is expected to be able to make the starting 11 here.

Our Manchester City vs Leicester Prediction
Things won’t get any easier for struggling Leicester as they have to contend with a Manchester City team that is in absolutely terrifying form. These two teams are heading in completely opposite directions and the visitors would appear to need a minor miracle if they are to walk away from the Etihad with the three points. This should be a relatively straightforward win for the hosts but we’re going to back the Man City defense to show up yet again and keep a clean sheet given how solid they have been on home soil lately. Our Manchester City vs Leicester prediction is for a home win to nil.
