Manchester City face Everton at lunchtime on Saturday with Pep Guardiola's treble winners in a stunning run of form. The Citizens have won all their last nine games in all competitions, including victory in the FIFA Club World Cup just before Christmas, and they have won their last two Premier League games against Burnley and Brentford by a 3-1 scoreline. The return of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne has undoubtedly been a massive boost for the team, although it was Phil Foden who shone last weekend netting a hat-trick in that win over Brentford. City lie second in the Premier League table and will go top with a win here, albeit Liverpool could retake top spot if they were to beat Burnley later in the afternoon. 

Everton's 10-point deduction has hit the Toffees hard and despite a run of three draws in their past trio of Premier League games, the Toffees now sit in the relegation zone in 18th place on 19 points. Luton Town's form, which has seen them lose just one in five, has seen the Hatters go above Everton in the race against the drop and with the threat of further sanctions hanging over themselves (and Nottingham Forest), it is a worrying time for the blue half of Liverpool. Defensively, Everton have been very solid all season, but goalscoring has been their big problem. That defence will get a severe test at the Etihad at lunchtime on Saturday as City will no doubt be going all guns blazing to land the win that would see them at the top of the table once again.
