Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Steve Ashfield | in Champions League Predictions
Manchester City are set to square it out with Chelsea in the all-Premier League faceoff in the UEFA Champions League final. This season alone these two sides have met thrice and after losing the first, Chelsea go to this game with two straight wins over City. While City are gunning for their first Champions League title, Chelsea have been there before. City’s last two losses to Chelsea have come in the course of the past six weeks but they bagged a double in the season and won’t mind adding another. Some laxity could be noted in City’s recent clashes and they go here with two losses in their last four matches, while keeping just one clean sheet. They have conceded two or more in three of their last four matches but in the last three alone, they’ve scored 11 goals. City are coming from a 5-0 win over Everton in their final league game of the season and will be confident heading to the Champions League final. They are the only side to get to this stage unbeaten in this competition this season and they’ve won each of the last seven, scoring two in each of them and keeping four clean sheets. Kevin De Bryune’s fitness was a concern ahead of the final but after playing the full game against Everton, going to this game the only player doubtful for City is Ilkay Gundogan. The German was on the bench for the Everton game.
Chelsea have had two straight wins over Manchester City and Hakim Ziyech has scored in both. The Blues were earlier in the campaign hailed for their fluid football and great defending after Thomas Tuchel’s arrival. The past few matches though have shown The Blues may be breaking and that comes at a very wrong time. In their final game of the season they struggled to break down Aston Villa and their goal in the 2-1 loss needed the goal line technology to confirm. The game also saw goalkeeper Edouard Mendy subbed at half time with a rib injury while N’Golo Kante missed with a hamstring injury. Reports say the two have since returned to training but whether they’ll be ready for the final remains to be seen. This should be a big boost, especially with Kante, after Matteo Kovacic’s timid performance against Villa. Chelsea have three losses in the last four matches. They’ve already lost in the FA Cup final and defeats to Aston Villa and Arsenal almost cost them a top four place. They have no clean sheet in five matches and unlike Manchester City, they have a loss in their 12 matches in this competition. While City have 11 wins in their 12 Champions League matches this season, Chelsea have failed to win four of theirs.

Our Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction
Manchester City obviously have a better run than Chelsea in the Champions League and Chelsea’s limp show in the FA Cup final has left their fans with fears going to this game. Chelsea’s defensive mettle has disappeared in recent matches and three losses in the last four games paints a grim picture. Manchester City have been better defensively, and even at their worst, the attack has functioned well, so we will back them to win this.
