Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Ian John | in FA Cup Predictions
FA Cup Holders Manchester City take on Chelsea in the first of this weekend’s two FA Cup semi-finals. City head into the game top of the Premier League but have drawn both their games against Chelsea this season. The first was a memorable 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge which was followed up with a 1-1 draw at the Etihad in February. This first semi-final looks delicately poised as a result. The winner will face either Manchester United or Coventry City in the final.Limited Offer. Currently at DraftKings

Manchester City - Chelsea: Form Analysis
Manchester City’s defeat on penalties to Real Madrid in the week was hardly the ideal preparation for this game. Despite that, Pep Guardiola’s team have been in superb form in the FA Cup this season. Huddersfield were dispatched 5-0 in the Third Round, Spurs then beaten 1-0 in the Fourth, before City thumped Luton Town 6-2 in the Fifth Round, Erling Haaland netting five in that game. A quarter-final against Newcastle United lay in wait at the Etihad where City once again came through with a 2-0 victory. Discounting their penalty defeat to Real Madrid (which came after two draws), Manchester City remain unbeaten since a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa back on December 6th, a run of 33 games in all competitions. While still technically undefeated, City have conceded a goal in each their last five games.
Mauricio Pochettino is enjoying his best run of form as Chelsea manager. After what has been a desperately poor Premier League season, the Blues now lie ninth in the table but could move up to seventh ahead of Manchester United, if they win their game in hand. Chelsea have been much better in domestic cup football. Their sole defeat in the last dozen games was a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Final. In the FA Cup, Chelsea beat Preston North End 4-0 in the Third Round before being taken to a replay by Aston Villa in the Fourth. The London outfit would earn a superb 3-1 away win in that replay after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Two top Championship teams were then dispatched in the Fifth Round and Quarter-finals. Leeds were eliminated first 3-2, and then Leicester followed suit after they were beaten 4-2.

Manchester City & Chelsea Squad Analysis
Manchester City have four potential injury concerns ahead of the semi-final with Chelsea. A trio of stars were forced off against Real Madrid due to injuries. Erling Haaland was substituted at the end of full time and soon after Kevin De Bruyne and Manuel Akanji followed. All three are a doubt for the semi-final, with Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol also believed to be nursing a slight knock, though he will likely be fit for the game. If Haaland and De Bruyne do miss out, then there will be added pressure on City ace Phil Foden who has arguably been their most consistent performer this season.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is still contending with a lengthy injury list at Stamford Bridge. Long-term absentees Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Lesle Ugochukwu and Reece James are ruled out, while the game also comes a little too soon for Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill. Four other players will also be monitored in the lead up to the game including Axel Disasi and Enzo Fernandez, who both have knocks but should be fit. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has been ill with a virus, and winger Raheem Sterling has had a bout of food poisoning during the week. Both are expected to be declared fit to play.
