The new Premier League season is on its way and this weekend we have the Community Shield. With Manchester City winning both the Premier League and FA Cup last season, it's league runners-up Arsenal who take them on in this traditional curtain raiser for the new season. Manchester City - Arsenal: Form Analysis
Manchester City have played three pre-season friends, winning two of them. They began with a 5-3 win over Yokohama F.Marinos and then defeated Bayern Munich 2-1. Their third match was against Atletico Madrid and saw them beaten 2-1. That was only their second defeat since February, the other being inflicted on them by Brentford right at the end of the Premier League season. Erling Haaland has again been in scoring form with two in the win over Yokahama.
Arsenal have had a busy pre-season with five games being played around the world. They only lost one of those games, a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in a game played in the USA. Other friends included a 5-3 win over Barcelona and a 1-1 draw with Monaco in the Emirates Cup. They went on to win that cup via a penalty shoot-out. Saka, Trossard and Havertz have been in good scoring form, each scoring twice.

Manchester City & Arsenal Squad Analysis
Arsenal will be without Gabriel Jesus who has had minor knee surgery. He used to play for Manchester City and so did Oleksandr Zinchenko but a calf injury is likely to rule him out of facing his former club. Also on the injured list are Reiss Nelson, Folarin Balogun and Mohamed Elneny. Eddie Nketiah was on target against Monaco and is expected to start this game. Bukayo Saka didn't play against Monaco due to illness but seems ok now. Big signings Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are also expected to be in the starting line-up.
Manchester City don't expect Kevin De Bruyne to play due to a hamstring injury. Nathan Ake is likely to start but £77.6m signing Josko Gvardiol will have to wait for his City debut. Mateo Kovacic is expected to play against Arsenal.
