The second leg of the quarter-finals in the CAF Champions League will see Mamelodi Sundowns playing host to Young Africans on Friday afternoon. It’s still all to play for here, with these sides drawing the first leg 0-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Sundowns have been very good in this competition and are looking to reach the semi-finals for a second successive year after getting knocked out in the last four by Wydad AC last term. The Brazilians came through the group stages by winning Group A with 13 points in their six games, three points ahead of TP Mazemebe. They are unbeaten at home in this competition (W3 D1 L0) and have not lost a single match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in any competition since October 2022. The hosts are also unbeaten in their domestic league this season and have conceded just a single goal in their last eight matches. Despite the first leg ending goalless, Sundowns are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, Young Africans have faced difficulty finding the back of the net in recent CAF Champions League matches, remaining scoreless for the past 186 minutes in the competition. Their last goal came from Joseph Gnadou in a group-stage victory against Belouizdad. Wananchi qualified for the knockout stages by finishing second in Group D with eight points, four points behind Al Ahly and edging CR Celouizdad on goal difference. The visitors are still aiming to secure their first away victory in the competition this season, having suffered two losses and managed one draw on the road so far. The Tanzanian side will be determined to put an end to their three-match winless streak away from home. However, they will find it tough against their opponent’s formidable defence. The one advantage for Young Africans, though, is that they have a slightly longer rest advantage, with the first leg being the last game they played.
