Mamelodi Sundowns will look to end the group stages in the CAF Champions League in pole position when they face TP Mazembe on Saturday afternoon. The hosts currently lead Group A, while the visitors are second, with both teams locked on ten points apiece. Regardless of the outcome of this match, both these sides will progress to the knockout stages as they lead the group by six points. Sundowns maintained their superiority in this group after securing a 2-0 win over Nouadhibou last week. That took them to three matches unbeaten in this competition, following a draw and a win against Pyramids in their two preceding matches. Their only defeat in the Champions League was against their opponents in this match back in week two on the road. However, they will be looking forward to returning to home soil, where they have been formidable this season, unbeaten in both cup and league competition. The Brazilians have won each of their last three games against this opponent at Loftus Versfeld and are the favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, after losing their opening match of the competition 1-0 to Egyptian Premier League outfit Pyramids, TP Mazembe found top gear and are now unbeaten in their last four games in this competition. Following their 1-0 win over this opponent in the reverse fixture, they drew 0-0 before beating Nouadhibou 2-0 and secured their passage to the next round with a 3-0 win over Pyramids last week. Notably, Mazembe have not conceded a single goal in any of their last four games while scoring six in that time. However, the one negative in what has been a solid 2023-24 campaign has been their away performances, having failed to win either of their two games on the road in this competition while failing to score in both as well.
