Malta vs Venezuela Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Joseph King | in Football Predictions
The 58th FIFA ranked team Venezuela takes on 169th ranked Malta in this international friendly at the Ta’ Qali Stadium. Venezuela are coming off a 1-0 home loss to Colombia in their last match which wrapped up a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign. La Vinotinto finished with a record of three wins, one draw and 14 losses while posting a group worst -20 goal differential. Venezuela has now lost its last three matches on the bounce, only managing to find the net once in that stretch while giving up eight goals. Their opponents didn’t fare much better in their respective World Cup qualifying group, as Malta finished with only one win, two draws and seven losses with a -21 goal differential. Malta, to their credit, are actually coming off two consecutive wins with two clean sheets against Azerbaijan and Kuwait so should be in high spirits ahead of this one.
The recent victories will come as a huge morale boost as Malta had previously only picked up one point from six matches to close out their qualifying group, with a couple of heavy home losses thrown in. The final three home matches for Malta in World Cup qualifying finished 6-0, 7-1 and 4-0 to Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia, respectively. Venezuela should fancy their chances of walking away with a morale-boosting win in this friendly match, despite the match taking place away from home in Malta. It’s important to consider the level of competition when looking at results from national teams and Venezuela has had a tough run of fixtures. Their last three losses were against sub-20 FIFA ranked teams and were able to pick up an easy win the last time they faced a team ranked higher than 50th by beating Bolivia 4-1.
