It was a lonely summer for Scotland as they were the only British nation not to qualify for the European Championships. They had a tough Euro qualifying draw going up against Germany, Poland and Ireland, it's not that much easier in the 2018 World Cup as they have to get past England and Slovakia if they want to make it to Russia.  Scotland have lost their last two games but Malta are nowhere near the level of France and Italy. Scotland have had some decent results this year with wins over Denmark and Czech Republic  Malta had a really disappointing Euro 2016 campaign and have gone ten games without a win. Just two points in their qualifying group and only three goals in those matches. They have never beaten Scotland and lost the last four. Just a couple of home wins since 2012 over San Marino and Lithuania so this looks an ideal chance for Scotland to start their campaign with three points.
