Malta will face off against North Macedonia in Group C of the UEFA European Champions Qualifying this Tuesday. The hosts are currently bottom of the group, while the visitors are in fourth place after four matches. Malta come into this match following an international friendly win over Malta last week. However, they are yet to register a single point in this competition. The hosts were beaten 2-1 by this opponent in the opening match of these qualifiers. Since then, they have lost to Italy, England, and Ukraine, failing to score in any of those matches. The Knights of St John are now on a five-match losing streak in competitive matches. In fact, in their last 14 competitive matches, Malta have only recorded two wins. Both those victories came over San Marino, who are UEFA’s lowest-ranked side. The hosts are the clear outsiders in this one. 

Meanwhile, North Macedonia managed a hard-fought point against Italy over the weekend. Their only win in these qualifiers came against this opponent in gameweek one. That victory was also the only one they managed in their last seven competitive matches. The visitors finished third in their group at the Nations League last year, beaten by Bulgaria and Georgia. They are now ranked 50th according to UEFA, which is five places below their opponents. Still, they are strongly fancied to get the win in this one.
