Mallorca will seek to pull further away from the relegation zone when they host Sevilla on Saturday in the Spanish La Liga. Two points separate the two sides going into this round 16 fixture with Sevilla in 15th having the advantage over their 17th-placed hosts. Mallorca sit just two points above the relegation zone and failure to win here can see them sucked back into the bottom three. Javier Aguirre’s men, who have won only one of their 15 games, have drawn a league-leading eight matches. This has allowed them to accumulate 11 points. A second victory can see them move up to 15th. Los Piratas haven’t lost in three outings and are coming off a 3-0 victory over Valle Egues in the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla also advanced to the third round of the Copa del Rey in midweek thanks to a 2-0 victory over Atletico Astorga. The win over the Spanish fifth-tier side ended a six-game run without victory for Diego Alonso’s men. They will now hope to replicate this in the league where they have won only twice. Sevilla have drawn the second joint number of matches in La Liga with seven and are yet to register an away victory. But as they haven’t lost in this fixture since 2019, Los Nervionenses will be confident of stunting Mallorca’s rise up the table. Sevilla have won four of the last six meetings with Mallorca and picked up all six points from them last season.
