Mali and Tunisia face off again just two months after meeting at the 2021 AFCON, a game that Mali won 1-0. This time Mali are the hosts as the two sides go in search of one of the five tickets from CAF region to the 2022 World Cup. After playing most of their qualification games away from home, Mali will get to host Tunisia in Bamako. It is a good break and Mali will also have the favorites tag going into the game. They haven’t lost in regular time in their last 10 matches, and have also done well defensively in that period, conceding one goals and keeping nine clean sheets. In their last 15 matches the West African nation hasn’t conceded more than one goal in a game. In World Cup qualification, Mali have lost just once in the last 11 matches, and at home, they are unbeaten in 12.

Tunisia on the other hand, have had a very shaky run coming into this game. They were eliminated at the quarter final stage at AFCON 2021 and they will have to blame it on bluntness in their attack. They have failed to score in four of their last six matches and ahead of this game they have three losses in the last five matches. in the last 10 matches, they’ve managed more than a goal on just two occasions. Tunisia are eyeing another appearance at the FIFA World Cup but this one looks very tricky for them, looking at their opponents’ current form. Tunisia have a good run in these qualifiers though; in the last 10, they’ve won six and lost one while they have five clean sheets. They’ve however failed to score in two of their last three matches in World Cup qualification and away from home, they have failed to score in the last two.
