Mali vs Mozambique Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON

Mali and Mozambique will begin their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they clash at Venue Stade 26 Mars on Friday night. The Eagles and the Mambas are joined in Group I of the competition by Eswatini and Guinea-Bissau. Let’s jump into the match prediction. 

Mali were one of the dark horses at the previous edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, and pulled off a major upset to beat South Africa, Namibia and Tunisia to top spot in the group stages, drawing two and winning one of their three matches.

In the knockouts, the Eagles downed Burkina Faso in the round of 16 but were agonisingly beaten by the Ivory Coast in the final minute of extra time in the quarter-final after the match finished 1-1 in the regulation 90. 

Since then, Mali won both their international friendlies in March against Mauritania and Nigeria, but lost to Ghana and drew against Madagascar in their World Cup qualifiers back in June. 

Meanwhile, Mozambique’s AFCON campaign at the start of the year was less impressive, as they bowed out of the competition in the group stages, winless in their three matches with two draws and a loss. 

However, the Mambas put on a much better showing in the COSAFA Cup in July, claiming third place in the competition, overcoming the likes of Botswana and the Comoros en route to the bronze medal. 

Mozambique are unbeaten in their last five away matches in all competitions but did lose their only previous encounter against their upcoming opponents 2-1 way back in 2014.
