Ghana have the chance to get their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign on track when they visit Mali on Thursday. Going into Match Day 3, Ghana are fourth on three points, a point behind second placed Mali. The hosts are one of the two undefeated sides in this group and will be hoping to keep it so. They warmed up for this encounter with two straight wins following their disappointing elimination from the African Cup of Nations in February. The loss to eventual AFCON winners Ivory Coast is Mali’s only defeat in the last 14 matches. That loss came in extra time, with Mali letting their lead slip to fall 2-1. In their most recent outing, Mali beat Nigeria 2-0, an identical result as their earlier outing against Mauritania. As they resume competitive action, Mali can only hope for a good home outing. They’ve lost only once at home in the last 13 World Cup qualification matches. That should give them some good hope going into the Ghana game.

The last time Ghana faced Mali the match ended in a 3-0 loss to the Ghanaians. They already come into this game on the backfoot and will hope for a better result. The past few matches haven't gone according to plan, in Ghana’s perspective. Here they come seeking a first win in eight matches, four of which ended in draws. A 2-2 draw with Uganda last time out leaves Ghana on just a win in their last 10 matches. The Black Stars can however afford to look at their recent scoring form with some optimism. They scored in each of their last five matches, an improvement from having netted just once in the earlier five matches. It is in defence though, that Ghana have problems. The visitors let in two goals in each of their last five matches and have two clean sheets only in 10 matches.
