Malawi and Zimbabwe meet in a must-win clash at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam. Both teams lost their opening matches in Group B and anything less than a win for either team will see them head home with an early exit. Malawi are on a poor run of results and have lost their last five matches. Their last win was a 1-0 victory over Mozambique in September. This victory was their sole win in their last twelve matches. Their biggest problem has been their lack of goals with them only scoring two goals in their last eight matches. Malawi will find it tough in this match as they have not beaten Zimbabwe in their last seven matches against them. Their last triumph in this fixture was in 2005.

Zimbabwe were very unlucky to lose their first match after going down to a Sadio Mane penalty seven minutes into injury time. They had a disastrous World Cup qualifying campaign where they failed to win any six of the group matches and eventually finished last in their group. They have in fact been without a win in their last 13 matches with five draws and eight losses in this period. Their last victory came against Botswana in March of last year. They also had major problems finding the back of the net with only three goals in their last ten matches.
