Malawi takes on Uganda at home in a match that will decide who joins Burkina Faso at the 2021 AFCON finals from Group B. Hosts Malawi are placed third in the group with seven points while Uganda have eight, and in second place. Malawi are coming from a 1-0 win over South Sudan and with another win here, they’ll be through to the finals. They were completely outfoxed as they lost 2-0 to Uganda back then in Kampala and their win over South Sudan remains their only one in seven matches. They have lost four of their last seven matches but their home form looks fairly good going to this game. While Malawi are unbeaten in their last 13 home matches, they’ve won just four and needing a win here, this is a run they’ll want to better. They have five straight clean sheets at home but failed to score in the last two while they have scored in seven of their last 13 home matches. In AFCON qualification matches at home, Malawi are unbeaten in six – three wins and three draws.

Uganda have been on a poor run lately and they head here without a win in their last five matches. They’ve lost three of the five and failed to score in three. The east African giants have been struggling to this end, and need just a draw to secure their place at the finals. They will have to sweat for it as the home side is also set to gain massively with a win. Uganda have failed to score in their last two away matches and looking at their situation at the moment, they’d feel they wasted a big chance in the 1-0 loss to South Sudan. They are now winless in three AFCON qualification matches away from home, two of them being losses, and they haven’t also scored a goal in their last three away matches in the qualifiers.
