Madagascar hosts Tanzania in the final match in Group J for the two nations. The hosts are coming from a 2-0 loss away to Benin and deservedly occupy the bottom spot in this group with three points. The visitors are third with seven points. This is a dead rubber affair as the contest for top spot will be between Benin and DR Congo in the other group game. Madagascar go to this game with four losses in five matches; they have one clean sheet in the five games and three times in the last four matches they’ve conceded two or more goals. In World Cup qualification, Madagascar have just one win in eight matches but they have lost just once in the last 10 World Cup qualification games at home. Five of the 10 matches have produced draws and both teams have scored in six of the 10 home matches.

Tanzania had a good chance of vying for a place in the final stage going into their last game, but they were thumped 3-0 at home by DR Congo. That was the second time in four matches that they conceded two or more goals and they’ve failed to score in two of their last five matches. Tanzania did beat Madagascar 3-2 in their first meeting in this group and in their last away game, they beat group leaders Benin 1-0. That is their only away win in eight World Cup qualification matches and it was also their first clean sheet in 14 away matches in World Cup qualification. Simon Msuva has been outstanding in Tanzania’s away matches; in each of the last three he has scored.
