Madagascar and Ghana will face off in one of the Group C matches lined up at the 2023 African Nations Championship. The two nations hope for a fast start to the competition, playing in a group that has current champions Morocco and Sudan. Madagascar will head into this game with the better run, having registered three wins in their last four matches and just one loss in their last five. They have kept three clean sheets in three of the last four matches but have scored more than a goal in just one of the last five games. A four-match unbeaten run will be the needed foundation for Madagascar coming into this game but they will hope to improve on their 1-1 draw with Botswana in their last game. three of their last five matches have produced under 2.5 goals.

Ghana will bear a completely different outlook from the one that participated at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This one is made up only of home based players, and this will significantly affect their strength. Ghana have missed the last three editions of the CHAN competition and this will be their fourth appearance. In their previous three appearances, they reached the final two times, and lost both – in 2009 and in 2014. Once, in their three previous appearances, they couldn’t get out of the group stage. Ghana’s home based players went through the qualification with just a loss, falling to Nigeria away from home but the 2-0 defeat equalled the aggregate scores before they won on post-match penalties. They last met Madagascar last year in a qualification match for the African Cup of Nations and Ghana won 3-0.
