Madagascar let slip a second half lead to draw 2 – 2 with Guinea in their opening game while Burundi held their own well for a big part of the game before crumbling against Nigeria late on in their first ever AFCON match. Both sides will be gunning for a first ever win at AFCON when they face off and heading to the game, Madagascar have not won any of their last six matches. They last won back to back qualification matches, against Equatorial Guinea. The two wins stand as the only ones in the last 11 matches, which have also yielded just three clean sheets. Madagascar have scored in seven of their last 10 matches and will hope to carry the same to this game, especially Carolus Andriamahitsinoro who has scored three goals in his last four matches, but they will be meeting a Burundi side also on prolific scoring form, having found the back of the net in eight of the last 10 matches. Burundi have not won any of their last four matches, and have managed just one win in the last 12 matches. They have just one clean sheet in the last 12 matches. Burundi managed 15 shots and six on target against Nigeria in their opening game despite having lesser of the possession in the game.
