Netherlands’ return to the big stage has coincided with playing on home soil at the group stages of Euro 2020 and they’ve made full use of it. Their final Group C game will be against North Macedonia at the Amsterdam Arena and having already qualified for the knockout stages, it will be a celebratory mood in this game. North Macedonia’s best effort couldn’t see them go past Ukraine in their last game, losing 2-1, after an earlier 3-1 loss to Austria. It is North Macedonia’s first appearance at this stage and while they’ve been entertaining, results haven’t gone their way, and a leaky defence is to blame. In the Euros alone, they’ve conceded five goals in two matches, and they go here with one clean sheet only in the last five matches. Notably though, they’ve scored in each of their last seven matches and failed in just one of the last 10.

The Netherlands had a shaky opening game, and almost bottled it after a dominant display before winning 3-2 against Ukraine. They had a few shaky moments in the game against Austria too, and missed a few good chances through Memphis Depay but rose above these to win 2-0. If they had pressure to win in their opening two matches, the pressure here will be lesser. With a top place finish in sight, they can target a favorable pairing for the second round. The Netherlands have no loss in six matches, winning five of them and in the last 10 they have only one loss. Denzel Dumfries has been one of their top performers and after scoring the winner against Ukraine, he won the penalty against Austria that brought the opening goal before scoring the second to secure the points. He could be rested for this third game though, after the powerful performances. In each of their last six matches at home, the Dutch have scored two goals or more and we expect more of the same here.
